I’m almost done with making all the 25 squares for the baby blanket, and have started stitching them together. It takes much shorter than I thought it would. I now make 3 squares pr hour, but attaching loos ends, and sowing everything together takes time, and is quite booring

My cousin is having a baby-boy in November, so I decided to make her a baby blanket.
I’ll make it of 25 grannysquares, in beige, brown and blue, and then have a thick beige edge around them, and a smaller brown and blue border.
I surfed the net for differnet baby blankets and squares before deciding how I wanted to make the banket. It’s simple to make and won’t take long. Each square takes 30min, the edging will take 3-4houres at most. Hope she’ll like it.

Since this is the first post in my new, and improved blog, I thought I could start with dedicating it to my friend Dan, who helped me setting up this blog.
Some of you might already know the Barbas.
To those who might not know them:
The Barbas are French cartoon characters from the 70s. They also appeared in many books. They were tremendously populare here. The Barba family included Barbapapa, Barbamama and 7 Barba-children, each with their own unique personality.
My Barbapapa, is aprox 25 cm tall. I made him as a gift to Dan, who has never completely grown out of his Barba facination. It’s the first toy I’ve made, and I had to do it without instructions. In the base I put a small bag of rice to give it some weight and make it stand more sturdy. It’s made in babywool. I only used single crochet stitches.

I think he liked it. At least he’s given it it’s own space in the livingroom
